FAQ

What does "pre-tax" dividend yield mean?
The dividend yield published by companies is before tax deductions. In Japan, taxed accounts deduct 20.315% (income tax 15% + reconstruction tax 0.315% + resident tax 5%). NISA accounts are tax-free, so pre-tax equals after-tax.
What is the difference between NISA and taxed accounts?
NISA (Nippon Individual Savings Account) is a Japanese tax-free investment scheme where dividends and capital gains are exempt from taxation. Taxed accounts charge 20.315% on dividend income.
What is dividend growth rate?
The annual rate at which a company increases its dividend payments. A 3% growth rate means a 100 JPY dividend becomes 103 JPY next year, then ~106 JPY the year after.
What happens when I turn on dividend reinvestment?
Dividends received are reinvested to purchase more shares, increasing your principal and future dividend income through compounding. When OFF, dividends are received as income (passive income scenario).
How do I use Reverse Calculate mode?
Enter your target monthly dividend income in the "Reverse Calculate" tab. The tool shows required investment amounts for yield levels from 2% to 8%, for both NISA and taxed accounts.
How accurate are the calculations?
This tool provides estimates based on constant yield and growth rate assumptions. Actual dividends vary with company performance, market conditions, exchange rates (for foreign stocks), and tax law changes.
Does this work on mobile devices?
Yes, fully responsive design ensures comfortable use on smartphones and tablets, with optimized slider controls and chart display.
Is my data sent to a server?
No, all calculations happen entirely in your browser. No investment data is transmitted to any server.
Are NISA investment limits considered?
The current version does not enforce NISA annual limits (3.6M JPY/year) or lifetime limits (18M JPY). This feature is planned for a future update.
Can I copy the results?
Yes, click "Copy Result" to copy the simulation summary to your clipboard in text format for sharing.
