Is the password generator free?
Yes, it is completely free. No registration required.
How long should a password be?
We recommend at least 12 characters. 16+ with mixed case, numbers, and symbols is very secure.
What is a passphrase?
A password made of multiple words. Easy to remember and long enough to be secure.
Are generated passwords saved?
No, all processing happens locally in your browser. Passwords are never sent to servers.
What are ambiguous characters?
Characters that look similar like "0" and "O", "1" and "l" and "I". Excluding them prevents confusion.
Which is safer, a passphrase or a regular password?
For the same length, a random password has higher entropy, but a passphrase is easier to remember and can be made long enough to be very secure in practice. This tool shows a strength bar and entropy (in bits) so you can choose the right type for your needs.
Can I generate many passwords at once?
Yes. You can generate up to 100 at once and save them all with "Copy All" or TXT download. Generation uses your browser's built-in cryptographically secure randomness (crypto.getRandomValues).
