Is the color name finder free to use?
Yes, it is completely free. No registration or installation is required—just open your browser and start using it.
Which color names are supported?
It supports English CSS color names (the 147 names from the CSS Color specification) and around 90 Japanese traditional colors such as akaneiro, asagi, and ruri.
How is the "closest color name" determined?
The input color and every named color are converted to the Lab color space, and a perceptual color difference (ΔE) is calculated. The name with the smallest difference is shown as the closest match.

Is my input color sent to a server?
No. The color dictionary is built into the tool and all processing happens in your browser. Your colors and codes are never sent to any server.
Can I use it on my smartphone?
Yes, it works on all devices including smartphones, tablets, and PCs.
