FAQ

How many ml are a tablespoon, teaspoon and cup?
Under the Japanese standard, 1 tablespoon = 15ml, 1 teaspoon = 5ml and 1 cup = 200ml. This tool uses those values (note that a US cup is 240ml, which is different).
Why do grams differ by ingredient for the same tablespoon?
A tablespoon is a fixed volume (15ml), but weight depends on the ingredient density. For example, 1 tbsp of water is about 15g, fine sugar about 9g and salt about 18g. Selecting an ingredient applies its density automatically.
How accurate are the gram values?
They are estimates based on widely used standard densities. Actual weight varies with the type of sugar, how flour is sifted, humidity and so on, so please treat them as a guide.
Can I use it on my smartphone?
Yes. It works in any browser on smartphones, tablets and PCs, so it is easy to check right in the kitchen.
Is anything I enter saved?
No. All calculations happen entirely in your browser, and nothing you enter is ever sent to or stored on a server. It is completely private.
