Formula Used

Monthly = (Target - Current × (1+r)n) ÷ { ((1+r)n - 1) ÷ r }

r: monthly rate (annual rate ÷ 12), n: total months (years × 12). When the return is 0%, it simplifies to (Target - Current) ÷ total months.

FAQ

How is the monthly saving calculated?
It uses the annuity formula assuming contributions at the end of each month with monthly compounding (annual rate ÷ 12). The growth of your current savings at the same rate is subtracted first. At 0% return it simplifies to (Target - Current) ÷ total months.
What return rate should I use?
There is no single right answer. Bank savings are around 0%, bonds roughly 1-3%, and long-term stock index averages are often cited around 3-7%. These are assumptions for estimation only and do not guarantee future returns.
Why is the 0% simple-saving amount also shown?
So you can compare the effect of investing at a glance. A higher assumed return lowers the monthly amount, but investing carries the risk of losing principal. Treat the 0% figure as a guide for saving with certainty.
Are my results saved anywhere?
No. All amounts and results are processed only within your browser and are never sent to or stored on any server.
Is this result financial advice?
No. This tool is an approximate simulation for general information only and is not a recommendation of any financial product or investment advice. Taxes and fees are excluded. Investing can lose principal, so make the final decision at your own responsibility and consult a professional if needed.
