How to Use

1

Enter Numbers

Type your numbers into the data input field. Commas, spaces, and new lines are all accepted as separators.

2

View Results

Mean, median, mode, variance, standard deviation, and other statistics are calculated instantly as you type.

3

Copy the Results

Use the "Copy Results" button to copy all statistics to your clipboard at once.

About Descriptive Statistics

Descriptive statistics summarize the key characteristics of a dataset. Mean, median, and mode describe the "center" of the data, while variance, standard deviation, and range describe its "spread". This tool runs entirely in your browser, so your data is never sent to any server.

Features

  • Real-time CalculationInstantly displays 12 statistics as you type.
  • Flexible InputHandles mixed commas, spaces, and new lines. Non-numeric tokens are ignored.
  • Sample & PopulationComputes variance and SD for both sample (n-1) and population (n).
  • Privacy ProtectedAll processing happens in your browser. Data is never sent externally.

Use Cases

  • Summarize test scores or survey results
  • Check the spread of experimental data
  • Compute descriptive statistics for reports
  • Analyze trends in sales or traffic data
  • Learn statistics and check homework

FAQ

What is the difference between sample and population variance?
Population variance divides the sum of squared deviations by the number of values n, while sample variance divides by n-1. When your data is a sample drawn from a larger population and you want to estimate the population spread, sample variance (n-1) is typically used.
What input formats are supported?
You can use comma-separated, space-separated, or one-value-per-line formats, or any mix of them. Decimals and negative values are supported. Tokens that cannot be read as numbers are ignored automatically.
Why does the mode show "None"?
The mode is the most frequently occurring value. If every value appears only once, there is no mode and "None" is shown. If multiple values share the highest frequency, all of them are displayed.
Is there a limit on the number of values?
There is no practical limit. Even thousands of values are calculated instantly. Everything runs on your own device, so larger datasets are never sent anywhere.
Is my data sent to a server?
No. All calculations happen entirely in your browser via JavaScript, and your data is never sent to or stored on any external server. You can safely use it even with sensitive data.
