About Rounding

Rounding adjusts numbers with many digits to a specified place so they are easier to use. Common methods are round half up, round up, round down, and banker's rounding (round half to even). This tool rounds your number with all four methods at the chosen place simultaneously so you can compare the results. All calculations run entirely in your browser.

FAQ

What is the difference between round, round up, and round down?
Round (half up) rounds 5 and above up and 4 and below down. Round up always moves to the larger magnitude, and round down always toward zero. Negative numbers are processed by magnitude, matching Excel ROUNDUP/ROUNDDOWN behavior.
What is banker's rounding?
When the value is exactly halfway (.5), it rounds to the nearest even number. For example, 2.5 becomes 2 and 3.5 becomes 4. It removes the upward bias of normal rounding, so it is used in accounting and statistics.
Can I process multiple numbers at once?
Yes. Enter numbers separated by line breaks, spaces, or commas, and every value is rounded at the same place and shown in a table. You can copy the entire table with one click.
How do I choose the "Round to" place?
Choose it based on the precision you want to keep. For example, select "to 1 decimal place" to keep one decimal, or "to hundreds" to round to units of 100.
Are the numbers I enter stored on a server?
No. All calculations run entirely in your browser with JavaScript, and the numbers you enter are never sent to or stored on any external server.
