About User Agent Parsing

A user agent is the self-identifying string a browser sends to a web server. It contains information about the browser type and version, the operating system, and the device. This tool parses the UA string and breaks it down into readable details such as browser, OS, device type and rendering engine. All processing happens in your browser and the string you enter is never sent to any server.

FAQ

What is a user agent?
It is an identifying string a browser sends when accessing a web server. It contains information such as browser name, version, OS and device, which servers use to optimize the content they return.
Is the UA string I enter sent to a server?
No. All parsing happens entirely in your browser. The string you enter is never sent to us or any external server.
Why does the device type show as "Desktop"?
A UA without smartphone- or tablet-specific identifiers is treated as a desktop environment, because most desktop browser UAs do not include an explicit device type.
Can I get all information accurately from a UA?
UA strings can be spoofed or abbreviated, so they do not always match the real environment. For privacy, versions are increasingly rounded or omitted. Use the result as a reference only.
Can I use it on my smartphone?
Yes. It works on all devices including smartphones, tablets and PCs. No registration or installation required.
