About HEIC to JPG

HEIC (HEIF) is the photo format iPhones have used by default since iOS 11. Files are small, but places that do not support HEIC, such as some web forms and Windows apps, cannot use them. This tool converts HEIC photos to JPG or PNG inside your browser. Photos are never sent to a server, so you can safely convert photos of ID documents such as a driver's license.

Features

  • Bulk conversionConvert any number of HEIC photos to JPG at once and save them as a ZIP.
  • No uploadConversion happens entirely in your browser. Even ID photos are never sent to a server.
  • Orientation, quality and sizeRotate photos that are turned the wrong way, choose quality up to 100% and shrink the long edge to fit file-size limits.
  • No location left behindMetadata such as the GPS location is removed from the converted images, and photo orientation is kept correct.

Use Cases

  • Send photos of a driver's license or ID card to a form that only accepts JPG
  • Open or edit iPhone photos on a Windows PC
  • Post iPhone photos to a blog, online shop or marketplace
  • Email or message photos without worrying about the other person's device
  • Submit JPG files to print services or photo books

FAQ

What is HEIC?
HEIC (HEIF) is the photo format iPhones have used by default since iOS 11. It compresses with the efficient HEVC (H.265) method, so files are smaller than JPG at similar quality. Websites and apps that do not support it, however, may be unable to open it.
Why can't I upload HEIC photos?
Some web forms and apps only accept specific formats such as JPG or PNG. Converting HEIC to JPG makes your photos usable almost anywhere.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser and your photos are never sent anywhere. The tool only downloads the program that reads HEIC the first time. You can safely convert photos of ID documents such as a driver's license.
Will the quality drop?
JPG is a compressed format, so there is a slight change. At the default 92% the difference is virtually invisible. You can raise the quality to 100%, or choose PNG (larger files) for no loss at all.
Is the GPS location kept?
No. The converted images contain no metadata such as the location, date taken or camera model.
Can I fix photos that are turned the wrong way?
Yes. Rotate each photo 90° left or right, or rotate them all at once, before converting. Photos of documents taken from directly above, lying flat on a desk, are often saved sideways because the iPhone cannot tell which way is up. The orientation the iPhone records is applied automatically.
How many photos can I convert at once?
There is no limit on the number (up to 50MB per file). For very large batches, splitting them into groups of a few dozen keeps things stable on devices with less memory. Converted photos can be saved together as a ZIP.
How do I make the files smaller?
Set "Size" to a long edge such as 2048px to cut the file size a lot, or lower the quality to 80-90%. For exact width and height, use the Image Resizer; to reach a target file size, try the Image Compressor.
Can my iPhone take JPG photos in the first place?
Yes. Go to Settings > Camera > Formats and choose "Most Compatible", and new photos are saved as JPEG (choose "High Efficiency" to go back to HEIC). Files will be larger than HEIC at the same quality.
Does it work on iPhone and Android phones?
Yes. It works in the major browsers (Safari, Chrome, Edge, Firefox) on iPhone, iPad, Android phones and computers.
