FAQ

What is EXIF data?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is metadata automatically embedded in photos taken with digital cameras and smartphones. It includes capture date/time, camera model, settings (shutter speed, ISO, etc.), and GPS location.
Why should I remove EXIF data?
EXIF data may contain GPS coordinates that can reveal your home or workplace location. Removing metadata before sharing photos online helps protect your privacy and safety.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No, all processing happens entirely in your browser. Your images are never uploaded to or stored on any server.
What image formats are supported?
JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF and HEIC (iPhone photos) are supported. JPEG images and iPhone photos typically contain the most EXIF data. HEIC photos are saved as JPG when you remove the data.
Does removing EXIF affect image quality?
No for JPEG: the image data is kept as is and only the EXIF data is removed (only the orientation is kept). PNG images are also processed without any quality loss. WebP and TIFF are saved as JPEG (95% quality) and HEIC as JPG (92%), so they may change very slightly, which is virtually impossible to see.
Can I process multiple images at once?
Yes. When you select multiple images, batch mode is enabled and EXIF data is removed from all of them at once. Cleaned images are downloaded together as a ZIP file, or one by one if ZIP is not supported. All processing happens in your browser.
What is the Key EXIF Info display?
It highlights the most important fields—date taken, camera model, lens, and GPS location—right after upload, so you can review the essentials at a glance without expanding the full EXIF list. When GPS data is present, you can open the location on a map directly from there.
How can I check the GPS location?
When GPS data is present, the capture location is shown on a map with a marker, plus an "Open in Google Maps" button and a copy-coordinates option. If you do not want to reveal the location, use the EXIF removal feature to strip the metadata. All viewing and removal happens in your browser and images are never sent anywhere.
