FAQ

Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens entirely in your browser. Your image data is never sent to or stored on any server.
What is the difference between HEX, RGB, and HSL?
HEX is a hexadecimal "#RRGGBB" notation, RGB uses red/green/blue values, and HSL uses hue, saturation, and lightness. They describe the same color in different ways for different purposes.
How is the color palette extracted?
A color quantization algorithm called median cut automatically selects the most representative colors in the image. You can choose to extract 5 to 8 colors.
Can I paste a screenshot directly?
Yes. Use Ctrl+V (⌘V on Mac) to paste an image from your clipboard and pick colors from it.
Can I pick a color from anywhere on screen?
On supported browsers (Chrome, Edge, etc.), the "Pick from Screen" button invokes the browser's native eyedropper to grab a color from anywhere on screen.
Does it work on smartphones?
Yes. You can tap to pick colors, and it works on smartphones, tablets, and PCs.
