About This Tool

This tool changes the pixel dimensions of images. Resize many images at once by long edge, width and height, percent or social presets, and export them as JPG, PNG or WebP. When the target aspect ratio differs, images are cropped around the center, and with a single image you can drag to adjust the crop. iPhone HEIC photos are supported. Everything runs in your browser, so your images are never uploaded.

Features

  • Batch resizingResize any number of images at once and save them as a ZIP. Mixed portrait and landscape photos can be matched by long edge.
  • High-quality downscalingLanczos-based resampling keeps fine patterns and text crisp, without the jaggies of a plain resize.
  • Format and qualityConvert to JPG, PNG or WebP with quality up to 100%. iPhone HEIC photos can be read as well.
  • PrivacyEverything happens in your browser. Images are never sent to a server, and metadata such as location is removed.

Use Cases

  • Make a set of photos the same size for social media
  • Bring blog or shop product photos to a 1200px long edge
  • Shrink images to fit email or upload-form size limits
  • Resize iPhone photos (HEIC) and send them as JPG
  • Create thumbnails, OGP images and banners

FAQ

Which image formats are supported?
You can load PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF and HEIC/HEIF (iPhone photos). Images are exported as JPG, PNG or WebP. Animated GIFs become a still image of the first frame.
Can I resize many images at once?
Yes. Add as many images as you like and they are all processed with the same settings. Download them one by one or together as a ZIP. Each file can be up to 50MB; for very large batches, splitting them into groups of a few dozen keeps things stable on devices with less memory.
Can I set the quality to 100%?
Yes. JPG and WebP quality can be set from 1 to 100%, and it starts at 100% (the highest quality). To make files smaller, lowering it to 80-90% usually saves a lot of space with hardly any visible difference. PNG is lossless, so it has no quality setting.
Does downscaling reduce quality?
Fewer pixels means less detail, but this tool resizes with Lanczos-based resampling (pica). Compared with a plain browser resize it produces far fewer jaggies and moiré patterns, and keeps text and edges crisp.
What is "Long Edge" resizing?
It fits the longer of the width and height (the long edge) to the pixels you specify and scales the other side proportionally, keeping the aspect ratio. It is handy when you want to cap many images, portrait or landscape, at something like 1280px without any cropping. Turn on "Don't enlarge smaller images" if small images should stay as they are.
What happens when I resize to a different aspect ratio, such as a social preset?
The parts that do not fit are cropped around the center. With a single image you can drag and zoom to adjust the crop. To shrink without changing the aspect ratio, use "Long Edge", or "Pixels" with "Keep aspect ratio".
Can I resize iPhone photos (HEIC)?
Yes. HEIC photos are read, resized and exported as JPG, PNG or WebP ("Original" exports them as JPG). If you only want to turn them into JPG without resizing, the HEIC to JPG Converter is quicker.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs in your browser and your images are never sent to a server. The tool only downloads the program it needs when you add HEIC photos or use high-quality resizing; your images are not sent.
Is metadata such as location kept?
No. The exported images contain no metadata such as the GPS location, date taken or camera model, so you can also use the tool to strip location data before posting or uploading photos.
Can I enlarge images?
Yes, with percent, long-edge or pixel sizes larger than the original. Detail that is not in the original cannot be added, though, so the more you enlarge the softer it looks. Turn on "Don't enlarge smaller images" to never enlarge.
