FAQ

Is the JSON ⇔ YAML converter free?
Yes, it is completely free. No registration or installation required.
Is my data sent to a server?
No. All conversion runs locally in your browser (js-yaml) and is never sent or stored externally, so even sensitive config files are safe.
Are YAML comments preserved after conversion?
No. Comments (lines starting with #) are lost when converting YAML to JSON, because JSON has no comment syntax. Keep important notes outside of comments.
Can I change the indentation?
Yes. Choose 2 or 4 spaces for YAML output; the same setting applies to JSON output.
What causes a "syntax error"?
For JSON: trailing commas, single quotes, or comments. For YAML: misaligned indentation, tab characters, or a missing space after a colon. Use the error message to locate the issue.
Can it convert large files?
Yes, within browser memory limits. Files up to several MB are usually handled without problems.
